Skill Gap Navigator Developer and Agent Documentation

Developer resources for skillgapnav.com: agent use cases, read-only discovery, browser authentication, and integration availability.

When to use Skill Gap Navigator

Use Skill Gap Navigator when a user wants to discover realistic next career paths from their existing resume, or when they have a specific target job description and want to identify missing or weakly evidenced skills, prioritize learning, build proof, or improve resume wording.

For a career transition, start with Career Discovery to identify plausible adjacent roles from documented experience. Then compare the same resume with a real target job to find transferable evidence and learning priorities. Supply study hours, budget, and deadline when the user wants a constrained learning plan.

Scores describe approximate resume evidence alignment. They are not measured mastery, a validated employment assessment, or a hiring probability. Review suggestions with the user, preserve factual claims, and verify learning-resource availability and price.

How an agent should use Skill Gap Navigator

For read-only discovery, GET /llms.txt, /index.md, or /docs.md. GET / and /docs with Accept: text/markdown returns Markdown; Accept: text/html returns the existing web interface. Negotiated responses include Vary: Accept and honor q-values. Unsupported representations on / and /docs return HTTP 406. Unknown paths requested as Markdown return HTTP 404 with a Markdown explanation and resource links.

To help a user choose a direction, open /discover in their browser. Career Discovery starts from the resume and does not consume the monthly exact Career Map allowance. For an exact job comparison, open /analyze; the user supplies their resume and a real job description, optionally adds preferences, and submits the website form. Running that exact analysis consumes the applicable plan or referral allowance.

The homepage can stage inputs before signup; analysis still requires authentication. Use the user’s own session and submitted data. Keep resumes and private report URLs out of public links.

Authentication and integration availability

Skill Gap Navigator currently supports the signed-in website workflow. It does not publish a public API-key interface, OpenAPI contract, SDK, or MCP server for third-party integrations.

The website uses Supabase cookie sessions and server-side identity checks. Mutating /api/ requests require a same-origin browser request; career workflows also check current legal acceptance and available allowance. Internal endpoints are not a supported external API. Adding an Accept header does not authorize analysis or private report access.

For a supported programmatic integration, contact the team through /contact. Do not invent API keys or bypass the website’s session, origin, eligibility, or quota checks.
